Technology and competitive conditions change overnight. That's why your choice of computing platforms is so critical. You need a computing platform that meets your unique requirements, yet has the flexibility to grow and change with your business. For you, NCR introduces the WorldMark 4300 Server.
Whether your primary computing concern is reducing downtime, ensuring future growth, maximizing performance or standardizing platforms, the WorldMark 4300 is the right choice. And the inherent expandability of the system ensures your investment for years to come.
Superior Enterprise Reliability and Availability
While the WorldMark 4300 is designed for departmental, data intensive
computing, it also has a combination of high availability features unique
for its class:
Unparalleled Scalability and Investment Protection
The WorldMark 4300 offers up to eight Intel Pentium Pro processors
utilizing NCR's OctaSCALE architecture. The true innovation of OctaSCALE
is the ability to take advantage of industry-standard, high-volume components,
while leveraging NCR's long standing success and experience in SMP technology.
OctaSCALE allows you to scale from one to eight on-board Pentium Pro processors
in a true SMP architecture. Unlike interconnect technologies such as Scalable
Coherent Interface (SCI) and ServerNET that cluster two or more four-processor
SMP servers, OctaSCALE is more cost effective since you do not need the
link overhead of the interconnect. You get the high performance of a true
eight-processor SMP solution in a single cabinet.
The WorldMark 4300 is offered as a single node, clusters of nodes, or a rack mount configuration. And with up to 14 PCI and four EISA slots, a wide range of your peripherals are supported. The WorldMark 4300 also has 12 hot pluggable hard disk bays for up to 108GB of internal storage and memory expansion of up to 8GB. The WorldMark 4300's scalability maximizes your system's computing capacity.
World-Class Performance
The WorldMark 4300 redefines the term "application server"
with 166 MHz or 200 MHz Pentium Pro processors on a system bus operating
up to 1,066MB/second. Quad peer PCI buses at 132MB/second each, and dual
onboard ultra fast/wide SCSI Controllers offer excellent networking and
I/O performance, enabling the WorldMark 4300 to take advantage of one of
the largest selections of adapters on the market.
The OctaSCALE architecture ensures superior scalability over other SMP designs. The result is maximum performance and compliance with Intel's Multiprocessing Specification.Complementing these features are the Reliability, Availability and Serviceability (RAS) offered by both Microsoft¨ Windows NT Server and NCR UNIX SVR4 MP-RAS. Both operating systems provide local and remote server management for improved productivity and reduced support costs.
NCR also offers LifeKeeper and TOP END®. LifeKeeper software ensures 99.9% system availability, and TOP END middleware lets you develop and manage your applications for the best transaction monitoring capabilities. Overall, you get minimal downtime and higher productivity.
Comprehensive Worldwide Services
In addition to NCR's one-year on-site NCR WorldMark 4300 warranty,
you get the backing of one of the industry's largest worldwide service
networks. NCR has 20,000 service consultants in 1,100 service locations
and Global Support Centers, and the full range of consulting services in
both Windows NT and UNIX environments. And the company is one of only three
global Microsoft Authorized Support Centers. NCR offers you formal, replicatable
methodologies including: operating system evaluation, porting assistance,
network planning and design, systems integration, project management and
others. That's all part of the NCR computing advantage.
