The Situation
The city of Fairfield, Ohio is located just north of Cincinnati. It has many civic organizations and churches and boasts of one of the best school
systems in the State of Ohio. Fairfield is a fast growing, vibrant community of over 40,000 known for its dynamic business climate, friendly neighborhoods, and modern, efficient government. The Fairfield City School
district includes 11 school buildings with a staff of over 550 teachers serving a student population of almost 9,000.
The Challenge
The school district had a need to improve the district wide communications between teachers, parents and students. In order to implement an
effective district wide web solution, the administration realized that all web content must be maintained through a de-centralized method.
Their experience with their previous web site implementation told them that unless the owners of the information could post it to the web in a timely manner, the site would not be utilized as a source of the most up to date information for parents, students, teachers and administrators.
The Response
The e-solutions@work division of Digital Controls responded to the Fairfield City Schools needs by developing a specialized web application solution
designed especially to suite the needs of the K-12 market. This solution is a resource available to keep parents and teachers in touch, 24/7, regarding the progress of their students.
Built on industry standards, Fairfields application includes individual school, administrator, teacher, and extracurricular organization web pages that link to the district wide web site (along with easy to use administration tools so each teacher, administrator or advisor can manage their own web site themselves anytime, anywhere, through the browser, via the Internet), district wide calendaring, homework posting, attendance tracking, discussion boards, surveying tools and much more.

The appliction built for Fairfield City Schools is designed to encourage the users to participate and make the tool a destination stop for the
day-to-day communication between the parents and students and teachers.
