NovPrint is a NetWare Loadable Module (NLM) which provides a cost-effective printing solution for UNIX and NetWare users. One copy of LP Plus NovPrint gives users access to all available printers on both NetWare and TCP/IP networks.
Bi-directional Printing
If you are a NetWare client, you can use NovPrint to route print jobs from NetWare server print queues to printers on UNIX hosts or terminal servers supporting TCP/IP connections.
If you are a UNIX user, you can use NovPrint to print jobs from UNIX hosts into a NetWare queue so work can be accessed by printers on file servers, NetWare workstations, and by print-dedicated PCs.*
In either case, you have expanded your printing resources and increased your efficiency.
Provides Text Translation
Of course, LP Plus NovPrint supports any printer and handles print jobs with text and graphics. And, if you require text translations for files sent to PostScript and HP PCL compatible printers, NovPrint will handle the output translation for you.
Easy to Install and Use
Installation and configuration procedures will be familiar to NetWare users because NovPrint mimics NetWare's menu-driven design.
With NovPrint installed, you can route jobs to or from any NetWare print queue on your network. NovPrint uses existing NetWare print queues, so utilities, including CAPTURE and NPRINT, will not change for NetWare users printing to UNIX printers. And UNIX commands, such as lp, lpr and lpq, will not change when printing to NetWare Printers because NovPrint emulates the line printer daemon (lpd).
Easy to Administer
If you are a network administrator, you can configure all NetWare print services from a single workstation utility instead of configuring individual workstations and without taking down the server or affecting other services. Print jobs and queues are managed using standard NetWare utilities, including PCONSOLE.
On the UNIX side of the network, there are no special requirements to connect to this new service. LP Plus NovPrint makes a NetWare server appear like any other UNIX host offering remote print services.
