WinPrint employs the industry standard LPD/LPR protocol to transfer print jobs to and from remote UNIX hosts and Windows PCS. Using LPD/LPR protocol makes WinPrint inherently compatible with the vast majority of UNIX and other systems that implement LPD services.

WinPrint can be used as a stand alone printing utility and, when supplemented by the TCP/IP telnet and ftp utilities provided with Microsoft's 32-bit VxD TCP/IP, WinPrint can create a very functional TCP/IP package that can satisfy most of your networking needs.

Bi-directional UNIX-Windows Printing

WinPrint provides bi-directional (local and remote) printing services between Window PCS and UNIX servers. WinPrint is a full implementation of UNIX LPD and LPR for Windows Winsock 1.1 environment. Because each WinPrint program contains both a complete server and client, any Windows PC can print directly to any UNIX printer and any UNIX system can print to any Windows PC.
