Due to growing concerns regarding the impact of the Year 2000 on computers, an information statement has been developed for the products manufactured by Digital Controls:

The products listed above do not accept time and date inputs or process date/time information in any manner that might affect the datastream.

While there may be dating problems associated with the operating systems and associated applications, these are not a function of Digital Controls’ products. Please contact the appropriate vendor as to Year 2000 compliance of these operating systems and applications.

The Freedom Controller utilizes a PC running a terminal emulator as a console. The date and time setting of this PC does not affect the operation of the Freedom Controller. If the PC is being used in other manners, please contact the manufacturer for Year 2000 information.

The programs write a logfile with a date/time stamp. The date is formatted as mm/dd/yyyy and will represent the year 2000 correctly as long as the underlying operating system provides the correct date information.

The software will correctly recognize, calculate and process data information within the same century and in multiple century formulas and values when the software is run on a Year 2000 Compliant Operating System. At this time, Digital Controls believes that LP Plus Versions 3.1.2 or later will operate in the Year 2000. Any problems that may occur will be addressed as normal maintenance issues.

There are no known issues regarding the Year 2000 as long as the product is run with a Year 2000 Compliant Operating System. At this time, Digital Controls believes that LP Plus Archive will operate in the Year 2000. Any problems that may occur will be addressed as normal maintenance issues.

Some portions of each of these products have been OEM’d or co-developed. It has been represented to Digital Controls that there are no known issues regarding Year 2000 as long as the product is run with a Year 2000 Compliant Operating System.

These proprietary VRX Software Utilities are not Year 2000 compliant and Digital Controls will not be doing further development of this older set of utilities. Digital Controls will continue to supply maintenance support until June 1, 1999 but will not be addressing issues related to the Year 2000.

These products should continue to operate beyond the Year 2000, although any commands which are date specific (such as the "SCAN" command) will recognize the Year 2000 as "00". Most commands do not operate by date and therefore should continue to execute normally. These products should be stopped and restarted on Jan 1, 2000, as they may not operate normally across the date change. For any customers who would like to protect themselves from any unforeseen problems relating to the Year 2000, Digital Controls will provide an option to purchase the source code. The source code option will be available through June 1, 1999. Digital Controls will no longer be supporting these products after that date.

All versions 8.xx and below are not Year 2000 compliant. Digital Controls is currently developing a new version of the ISO Gateway that will meet the Year 2000 requirements. The PC's BIOS and operating systems must be compliant. Any issues with the new version will be handled as standard maintenance upgrades. This product is scheduled to be available during the first quarter of 1998.
